Last week while wandering around the grassy fields of San Juan Island National Park, I happened across the most gorgeous jumping spider (Phidippus sp). I commonly see zebra jumping spiders and they’re usually pretty small, but this jumping spider was large in comparison. Unfortunately, I was unable to capture the beautiful green iridescent chelicera on the face. I’m not sure what species this one is yet, but I’ve never encountered one like it before. I was very excited.
