I am delighted to share my appearance on the OPB show Oregon Field Guide about slime molds. Not only was it an honor to be filmed and get to talk about one of my very favorite organisms, but this was a show I grew up watching which made the experience all that more special.

There’s a wonderful article accompanying the segment, please take a look. The video is in the article.

Hi Kelly! I discovered your blog through your OPB interview and was honestly surprised at how little we actually know about slime molds 🙂 it’s great you’re out here making these discoveries and collecting specimens! I’m excited to see more and explore your past work too. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful photography and writing <3

While watching the slime mold segment on OFG a question came to mind, and what fun would there be in hitting up Google for another answer. So without further ado, have you ever discovered bioluminescence in slime mold or is it just generally associated among marine life?

    • Hi Chad!

Sadly, I have never encountered any bioluminescent slime molds although I’ve heard that a few tropical species exist that do luminesce. It’s not strictly marine life that does this, there are some mushrooms that luminesce, but I’ve only seen them at mushroom shows, not in person yet.

      Thanks for stopping by!
