In the late afternoon I noticed an insect on the window screen and something about it made me look closer. It looked like a wasp, and it wasn’t until I got very close that I realized my instinct had been correct, it was actually a clearwing moth. It is one of the most convincing wasp mimics I’ve ever encountered and it only revealed itself by the feathery antennae and fuzzy body.
