In 2016 I’m doing a 365 Nature project. Each day of the year I will post something here about nature. It may be any format, a photo, video, audio, sketch or entry from my nature journal. It could be a written piece. Each day I will connect to nature in some way and share it here by the end of that day. You can keep up-to-date by subscribing to the RSS feed or be notified by email. See all the 365 Nature posts.

There’s a hummingbird feeder hanging on the window of our dining room. It’s regularly used by an Anna’s Hummingbird and I’ve been able to stand just on the other side of the window from the feeder and get nose-to-beak with the birds that visit. Trying to get photos or videos is less easy. I’ve sat and sat trying to get a video with no luck. Today the rain stopped for a short time so I tried again. Perhaps the hummingbird is finally getting used to me because today it came right up, even though I had the window open and my phone only inches from the feeder. It finally let me record while it fed.

I also tried to get some photos of the Anna’s Hummingbird, but it is dark today and my macro lens doesn’t focus quickly. The hummingbirds zips back and forth while feeding so much it’s hard to get it focused quick enough. Above is one decent shot I got.
